The ACM International Conference on Interactive Surfaces and Spaces took place in Niagara Falls, ON, Canada from November 6 to 9. This was the first time the conference was held under its new name instead of Interactive Tabletops and Surfaces (ITS). Five of us represented the Interactive Media Lab Dresden by presenting nine publications in total (see news). Highlights certainly were the presentation of our two papers by Patrick Reipschläger (MultiLens) and Ulrich von Zadow (Miners).

The conference started on Sunday where we participated in two workshops, one on immersive analytics and one on cross-surface interaction. On Monday, a big poster and demo session allowed attendees to give a lot of interesting interactive demos a try and to discuss poster works. Our team presented three topics focussing on presenting business data, 3D interaction with dual-display devices, and exploring time-dependent scientific data. Again ISS was a very successful conference for our group with nice research discussions and a great accompanying program as can be seen in our photo gallery.
Next year’s ISS will take place in Brighton, UK, where Raimund Dachselt will also act as program chair.
