Konstantin took part at the ACM Symposium on Computational Fabrication (SCF) in Cambridge (MA) and gained exciting insights into current trends and research directions.
The ACM Symposium on Computational Fabrication is an interdisciplinary venue that brings together leading experts from academia and industry in the area of computer graphics, geometry processing, mechanical engineering, materials science, architecture, human-computer interaction, robotics, and applied math.
In addition, Konstantin participated at SCF Summer School on Computational Fabrication and Smart Matter at the MIT CSAIL after the Symposium. 3D printed hydraulic parts, the optimization of multimaterial prints, the programming of swarm robots, the design of haptic ultrasonic sensations, the development of printed flex sensors and comprehensive brainstorming sessions were, besides the networking with other PhD students and researcher, an important part of the summer school. Another highlight was the MIT Lab tours (MIT Media Lab, MIT CSAIL, MIT Mechanical Engineering, MIT Architecture) and the visit of Innovation Spaces (e.g., Autodesk BUILD Space), which gave Konstantin insights in cutting-edge research and current fabrication trends.
