The ACM ISS 2020 (ACM Interactive Surfaces and Spaces), which was supposed to take place in Lisbon, was completely virtual this year. Our group was involved with two contributions.
The poster article “Towards Visualizing and Exploring Multivariate Networks on Mobile Devices” describes an approach of how single but also multiple mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) can be used to explore networks and their associated data. Besides Tom Horak, also Ricardo Langner and Raimund Dachselt were involved in the article.
We were also very happy about an invitation sent to Konstantin Klamka, to present the article Rapid Iron-On User Interfaces: Hands-on Fabrication of Interactive Textile Prototypes, which was previously published at the CHI 2020 together with Raimund Dachselt and Jürgen Steimle (Recording of the presentation on YouTube). Rapid Iron-On User Interfaces (see project page) represent a new manufacturing approach for creating individual textile prototypes using a hand-held ironing tool that transfers functional tapes and patches directly to fabrics.
