Time: Tuesday, 5.DS (14:50 to 16:20)
Location: Virtual via BBB & OPAL, APB/E023
Quantity: 2V/2Ü/0P SWS
Language: English

Exam: The exam “Advanced User Interfaces” will take place as an written exam (in presence) on 18. August 2021, 7:30-10:50 in POT/81/H.
  • 2 DS are blocked, since the hygiene concept requires more time for preparation and the procedure itself.
  • Admission starts at 7:30am, as check-in/record of contacts must be done on site.
  • Introduction to the exam starts after the check-in
  • The room is in the Gerhart-Potthoff-Bau, “Friedrich List” faculty of transport and traffic science (see campus navigator link).

Extract from hygiene concept:

Access to campus: Individuals with COVID-19-like symptoms must not enter the campus. The same applies to individuals who are demonstrably infected with SARS-CoV-2, have had personal contact with a person who had tested positive for SARS- CoV-2 within the past 14 days or have been in a risk area within the past 14 days.

Wearing medical/FFP2 mask: A medical face mask or a FFP2/KN95 mask must be worn in buildings and rooms. During the examination while sitting at one’s place as well as when speaking is necessary, the mask may be taken off.

Record of contacts: According to the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance, TU Dresden is obliged to record the contacts of those who participate in on-site teaching (applies to examiners/supervisors and those who are to be examined). The Coronavirus warning app of the RKI is used for this purpose (https://www.coronawarn.app/). Before entering the facilities, you must scan the posted QR code.
Alternatively, you can submit a completed contact form to the person responsible for the examination/supervisor.
The app is to be preferred over the form, as it is faster and easier to use for verification, thus preventing crowding at the entrance.

Disinfect hands: After entering the buildings and before entering the examination rooms, all individuals must immediately wash or disinfect their hands in the sanitary facilities.

Avoid crowds: Crowds of people, for example in waiting areas, at entrances or exits, or in front of sanitary facilities, should be avoided.

Description

This master module is dedicated to the development of so-called post-WIMP or natural user interfaces (UI), which are based on our experiences in dealing with the real world. A main focus of the event will be UIs for interactive surfaces, including tabletops. Here you will get to know the latest technologies and principles in connection with various operating modalities. Among other things, digital pens & sketches, multitouch gestures, gestural freehand interaction, tangible user interfaces, gaze-based and gaze-supported interaction, organic UIs will be covered.
In all areas you will acquire knowledge about basic hardware technologies, tracking methods, interaction principles, implementation possibilities and application examples. The module is research-oriented and is illustrated by numerous examples of own research work.
The lecture-accompanying exercise or seminar gives you the opportunity to critically examine the latest and most influential articles on the subject areas and thus acquire the ability to work scientifically in a promising field of human-computer interaction.

Schedule/Lecture Plan

The lecture material will be provided in the OPAL course.

Live events will take place via Big Blue Button (BBB) during the official time slots (Tuesday 14:50).
