This year’s OUTPUT featured several exciting student projects and theses from our Interactive Media Lab.
Eliah Lohr, Antonia Steglich, and Johannes Wolter presented BacteriaZoom, a continuation of last year’s Bakteriopolis project. Developed in collaboration with the Chair of General Microbiology, the demo brought a 3D-printed bacteria model to life through AR on tablets, aimed at use in classrooms and lectures. Visitors could explore the prototype and offer feedback to help shape future lesson designs.
Michelle Jaden Pattikawa and Elia Hilse showcased early results from their work on Dashboards for Large Displays. Their project explored how Multiple Coordinated Views can support data exploration on high-resolution display walls. One thesis focused on building a technical platform for distributed dashboard applications, while the other investigated user experience and layout design using eye-tracking data.
Julián Mendez presented Promise (to use TikTok less), a mobile app developed as part of Marie Langer’s master thesis on digital well-being. The app encourages mindful social media use by letting users set self-imposed limits, with a multi-week evaluation showing promising effects on reducing screen time.
We were excited to see the creativity and depth of work presented at this year’s event! For more information, visit https://output-dd.de/projekte/.
